International Program in Biomedical Technology and Material Science

Objectives

This program provides English-language training in theory and practice of biomedical technology, materials science, instrumental analysis, cell and molecular biology, blood biotechnology, tissue engineering and molecular imaging. The courses cultivate outstanding international professionals with special skills enabling them to execute innovative research.

 Courses

1. Course offerings include:
(1) Biomedical Materials and Instrumental Analysis
(2) Cell and Molecular Biology
(3) Tissue Engineering and Molecular Imaging
(4) Blood Biotechnology
(5) Translational Medicine.
 
Courses are provided primarily by the graduate institutes of Nursing, Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Biomedical Materials and Engineering, and the master's degree programs in the schools of Pharmacy and Public Health.

2. Required courses: Research Methods, Thesis Writing, Applied Statistics and Seminar.

3. Elective courses: Special Topics in Instrumental Analysis, Biomedical Materials, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Blood Biotechnology, Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, Medical Molecular Imaging, Translational Medicine, Seminar in Physiologic and Biologic Measurements in Nursing Research and others.

Certificate and degree

1. Students are eligible for completion certificate after at least 20 credits of program coursework, with at least 9 of these being elective credits (i.e., not belonging to the first or second major field) or other interdisciplinary programs.

2. Program courses can be counted as the credits in the master programs at Taipei Medical University. To meet the requirement for graduation from the enrolled school or graduate institute, a minimum of 24 credits in coursework and a 6-credit master’s thesis must be completed for the master programs.
