Summer Intensive Chinese Course

Stay tuned for our future summer Chinese course .
Ready for Medical School? Come to TMU!

Gear Up with Our 2011 Summer Intensive Chinese Program

Purpose: Taipei Medical University is one of Asia’s most prominent and innovative medical institutions; with three major teaching hospitals it is the region’s fastest-growing medical education system. Our undergraduate program prepares students to receive professional licenses to become medical doctors, dentists, nurses and nutritionists.

Because our undergraduate program currently is taught in Chinese, this summer TMU is starting a Summer Intensive Chinese Program (SICP) especially for applicants whose command of Chinese is below the required level. Students who are able to provide proof of beginner’s-level Chinese proficiency are welcome to apply. The program is intended to prepare students with intermediate-level Chinese skills that will enable them to be admitted to TMU professional programs.

Duration: June 1~August 31 (13 weeks).

Course content: Full-time Chinese study, Chinese culture classes and off-campus trips.

Tuition & fees: Around NT$ 45,000 (USD1,500) per person. This includes lodging, insurance, course fee, and other expenses. A limited number of scholarship support is available.

Important deadlines:
Early registration: February 20, 2011
Final registration deadline: April 8, 2011

To apply for this program: please email iss@tmu.edu.tw for request or download the application form from http://io.tmu.edu.tw. To learn more about Taipei Medical University undergraduate programs, please go to http://io.tmu.edu.tw and download the BA Application Brochure and BA Application Form.

Refer to Admissions information at: http://io.tmu.edu.tw for details.

Remarks:
1.      Students must arrive in Taiwan before 1 June. On June 2 and 3, students will take Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing tests to evaluate their language abilities and be assigned to Intermediate, High Intermediate or Advanced classes. On 4 and 5 June off-campus cultural trips will precede the start of classes on 6 June.
2.      Students who have been “conditionally accepted” to other TMU programs will be preferred. After completing the summer course, if students pass the TMU Chinese evaluation test they may register for regular courses. Students who do not attain an intermediate level of Chinese language skills are recommended to continue their Chinese studies for a semester or a year of deferral from TMU degree programs.
3.      Students will be responsible for their airfare and daily expenses. Monthly expenses in Taipei are about NT$ 10,000 (US$ 300).
